I am ashamed by the amount of time that has passed since my last journal entry!

Well, since September of 2008 I have adopted a juvenile Australian Cattle Dog! His name is Coleman and he is an amazingly good-natured, sentient being with the innocence that only a young, trusting mind can have. We had a rough start, because of m ineptitude as a human with unrealistic emotional expectations. Once I recognized him for the individual he is, I stopped wishing he was another dog and began to rejoice in whom he is.

I haven't been drawing or painting at all these past 2 years! Doodles, yes, notebooks & class notes full of doodles in the margins, but no planed out, deliberately creations. Instead, I have taken up digital photography & been learning when I can about enhancements and the various options of my Olympus E-500. I have much to upload!

Oh-and I graduated!!! (with honors, I might add) After taking a much-needed vacation to visit Rick & Larry, my close friends whom started me on my educational journey by offering to pay for community college classes instead of giving me a raise when I asked...they know the enormity of what the had started, that a lifetime gift of education is worth so much more than a 2$ raise...

Job hunting now, prospects looks positive for one facility. Other places, which I admire, are offering wages I received back at Discount Pet Clinic in 2005!

Medical College

wow! the past few weeks have been a time of great adjustment for me-going to an accelerated medical program is royally kicking my posterior!

these past few weeks have been one of forging life-long professional friendships, and watching our numbers dwindle. we started with 28 student in our Veterinary Technology program... now we are down to 19. the senior class, which started with 25 students, is down to 8. 8! no pressure, right?

Jan and I are having a great time, and I have been looking for a rescued dog to add to our family. I haven't had much time to draw or paint, but I am working on a cute poster for the Vet Tech Club.

Peace, Love, and Happiness,

RTR

not having a whole heck of a lot of motivation lately. just going to school and painting. don't want to clean house (but it's not too messy) window in my car need fixing, so i'm reluctant to go anywhere out of fear of thievery. weather has been awesome, so i ride my bike just about every day...

i notice di have had a DA account now for almost 2 years now and haven't even had 1,000pageviews. not to say i'm bitten by the green-eyed monster, because i haven't... but... there are obviously some amazingly talented artists whose pageviews number into the 6 digit range... and i would like to have at least a thousand people who have admired my art!

oh-well. guess the fact my paintings where auctioned off for less than 15$ at Woofstock has bummed me out, too. i mean, some of the materials used cost almost that, plus the time! Oh-well... i donated the paintings, and if they wanted to auction them of for 5 $, it's now their items. but it still makes me feel like a starving artist!

Acrylics

having recently returned from New York & the Westminster Dog SHow, I have been bitten by the acrylic bug. No, not something thta creepeth under my rugs, but the paint!

I haven't tried painting since high school. as I rememebr it, I was pretty crummy at it. But, like a good wine, hopefully age has made me more well-rounded.

so, behold! my first 2 acrylic paintings! these will be offered up to auction for a fundraiser to benefit the Friend Of Greyhounds in Florida. (www.friendsofgreyhounds.org/)

Please comment on them-I worked for hours and had fun, but I know there needs to be some improvements. but I am done with these.

i swear, the right equipment makes all the difference! I have this crummy program, ArcSoft Photo Studio 2000. actually, it's not tooo crummy.... but for what i am trying to do, it's crummy.
all i want to do is merge two pictures-one as a background, then take ONE element from the 2nd pic, and "layer" it on top of the background, exactly where i want it. this does not sound to be to complicated, in theory. however, i can not either move the 2nd image ON TOP OF the first (the WHOLE image moves as one) or i cannot resize the ratio. this sucks, blows, and i have wasted my ENTIRE morning trying to do this! now, i have combines images before and been able to move them where i like as layers... but this is simply not allowing me to do this with the first image as the background! i am so damn frustated, i'm going to the beach, ya'll...

damn program... aunt'nuncle give be a damn bootleg version of Photoshop.. ain't got no key and used 30 day free trial all up... no tablet... my p.c. enhanced art is hereby now on HIATUS.
